· Overview
Cornell Design Tech Open Studio Featured Project. Diplomask is a critical design project that critiques workplace power dynamics through a wearable device that filters and transforms speech into coded tones of hierarchy - subordinate, colleague, or superior - highlighting the performative and controlled nature of corporate language.
The project is referenced in the forthcoming article “From Prompts to Protocols: Designing Large Language Object Protocols Across Scales” (Technology | Architecture + Design) as an example of object-to-object conversational mediation. Diplomask demonstrates how language can be reformatted into structured communicative protocols, reframing speech not as expression but as a negotiated system of hierarchy and control.
